Installing Java For Mozilla 1.4
Linux Java 1.4.2 Beta or newer is required for Java applets to work in Mozilla Linux

    * If you're using Linux binaries compiled by mozilla.org then you will need Sun J2SE v 1.4.2 Beta or the Blackdown JDK 1.4.1 compiled with GCC 3.2 to run Java applets.
    * If you're using the Linux binaries compiled by mozilla.org then JavaScript access to Flash will not work.

With tar.gz builds on Linux, after the JRE has installed, put a symlink to java2/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjava.oji.so in your mozilla1.4 plugins/ directory.

With Linux RPM builds, you must install Java as the root user.
