Candidates should be familiar with the following concepts:

- Templated display logic: many pre-built templates exist, but some cases may require modifying existing templates to suit project-specific requirements.

- Standards-compliant HTML/CSS: we pride ourselves on markup that's clean and portable. Knowledge of W3C standards, browser quirks (including DOCTYPE switching), and basic CSS trickery are much appreciated.

- Version control: CVS is used in the development and maintenance of both the development framework and individual projects. At the very least, you should be capable of checking out modules, keeping them up-to-date, and checking in any changes you make.

- Basic database management: regular tasks include creating, modifying and dropping tables, and dumping and restoring databases.

Working knowledge of the following technologies is required:

- PHP 4: you must be comfortable with both procedural and object-oriented programming disciplines, and be familiar with a wide range of PHP built-in functions.

Familiarity with PHP 5 is a plus.

- SQL databases (Especially PostgreSQL): Knowledge of ANSI SQL and MySQL, should be sufficient if you haven't had any hands-on experience with PostgreSQL specifically.

- Unix / GNU/Linux: Basics of file management, file-system layout, etc.

Experience with these technologies is preferred:

- Apache: working knowledge of the world's most popular HTTP server is a great plus.

- Extra marks if you can write scripts to take care of menial tasks.
