I used to have a dual boot system with win2k and Slack 8.0. I decided to delete the linux partition and install 8.1 from scratch - please don't ask. I've been trying to install it for more than five hours and now I'm extremely sleepy, frutrated and irritable. Did a quick google search but couldn't find anything similar to the type of problems I have. So, this is
what I did:

I. First install. Went easy and fast, no problems - with one exception. LILO would not install (I told it to be installed to /dev/hda2, which is my linux partition). It didn't say why, just something like "LILO returned an error message". I made a boot floppy, finished setup and rebooted. Kernel panic - I have no root and i want to scream". ####.

Oh, yes - for a couple of times setup could not autodetect my CD-ROm drive even though I booted from it(WTF?!'<img'>. I tried again and it worked.

I booted woth the floppy again, this time I typed mount root=/dev/hda2. Got an error message saying /dev/hda2 was not a valid ext2 partition and I was put in single user mode. I almost screamed - OF COURSE it's not a f****ing ext2 partition, cause I made it ext3!! I didn't know what to do, so I just deleted the whole /dev/hda2 and started again...

II. Second install. Went easy and fast, made boot floppy, chose reiserfs (how the #### am I supposed to spell this?), installed LILO on /dev/hda2. Installed the bare.i kernel from the install CD. Finished setup and hit Ctrl-Alt-Del. Nothing happened. OK, without panicking, I waited and hit Ctrl-Alt-Del again. Nothing. I then typed shutdown -r now and this is what
I got:

BusyBox v0.50 (2002.02.20.03:47+0000) multi-call binary

No help available.

After a few more tries the keybord started producing wierd characters and no letters meant for human eyes. I rebooted with the reset button on the box. Couldn't boot with the floppy, of course. Del partition and on to the next install...

III. Third install. See above for more info. Install went easy, Ctrl-Alt-Del didn't work, and shutdown displayed a BusyBox message. Rebooted manually - into Windows, of course.

I want to die. Or better - I'm gonna have to kill somebody. I guess I'll have to play Max Payne for a couple of months to calm me down.

Erm, HEEEELP!!!
