Здравейте. Ползвам Федора Коре 4. От скоро. Опитвам се да инсталирам драйвери за видеото GF FX 5200. От сайта на НВИДИА дръпнах драйвери. Спирам Х сървъра и изпълнявам следното
"sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7667-pkg1.run"
Всичко минава добре. След това чета README.txt и редактирам файла xorg.conf по дадените указания - махам Load "dri" а "nv" сменям на "nvidia". Рестартирам и Х не се зарежда. И така 100 пъти вече. Проверявах инструкциите сумати време. Навсякаде пише че след това всичко трябва да е наред. Еми аз като следвам тези инстукции не мога да заредя Х. Помогнете моля. Не ми останаха нерви от този драйвер вече '<img'>

Ами виж в лога на Х какъв е проблема и не е лошо да дадеш конфигурационния файл, може пък там да има някакъв проблем.

Лога много дълъг ми се вижда за да го цитирам тук. Може би отделна секция но не знам коя.
Значи след като инсталирам драйвера и редактирам така xorg.conf и всичко умира. Не мога и в консолен режим да влезна. Казава ми само че не може да стартира Х и ако не избера да стартира нова конфигурация заспива на черен екран.
Започвам да се замислям дали не съм избрал лоша дистрибуция.

Изключи selinux, рестартирай, инсталирай драйверите наново. Така ще ти тръгнат нещата, после може спокойно да си пуснеш selinux отново (и пак да рестартираш). Проблемът е добре дискутиран в интернет, гугъл от първия път ми даде отговор миналата седмица още.

Как да изключа SELinux??
Както казах не съм се занимавал с Линукс, дай малко повече инфо.

stoka, дай малко информация за хардуера, който ползваш! Имах същия проблем и се оказа, че той се поражда от комбинацията между определени chipsets.
Опитай следното:
- ползвай последна версия на драйверите (1.0-7667 за момента),
- провери дали в биос-а не е зададено AGP 8x, а твойта карта да е на AGP 4x или дали няма някаква друга несъвместимост от този сорт,
- метни да видим `tail -50 /var/log/Xorg.0.log`.

Това е лога /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Не знам каде пише какво става като влизам в Рънлевел 3 и за това целия файл прилагам. Картата е GF FX 5200 AGP x8 поддържа. Абе преди този линукс бях сложил Тиликс и нямаше проблем. Влизах и в графичен и в неграфичен режим обаче беше няква бета версия. Препоръчаха този Федора 4 и вече 2 ден не мога да влезна в Рънлевел 3 за да си инсталирам едни тъпи драйвери на тъпия Линукс. Инсталацията е чисто нова и нищо не е пипано по настройките. Хардуера ми е обичаен - 17" монитор ЦРТ 1024х768 85 Хц, 256 ДДР рам, 80 ГБ ХДД, НВИДИА ФХ5200. Егати тъкмо бях решил да се отказвам напълно от Прозорците ама не става без драйвери. Все пак и филми трябва да се гледат. Хайде помагайте или кажете друг Линукс на който драйверите се инсталират нормално и може да влиза в Рънлевел 3.

Съжалявам, никога не съм ползвал RedHat-базирани дистрибуции.

Мен все пак ме интересуваше какво дъно (и по-специално, какъв chipset) имаш и с какъв процесор го ползваш.

Аз ползвам абсолютно същата GeForce-ка на ASRock дъно с VIA chipset и трябваше да задам изрично AGP mode да е "auto" (доколкото се сещам, де - не ми се рестартира, за да погледна) в биоса. Освен това бях объркал и джъмперите на борда и трябваше да ги сложа на 266 MHz, защото процесора ми е на 133 MHz. И след като инсталирах последния драйвер на nvidia, всичко тръгна.

Дано това Ти помогне.

П.С. Разглеждайки лога, който си дал, виждам, че опитваш с отворения драйвер "NV", вместо с този на nvidia. Всичко, което казах по-горе се отнася до nvidia-драйвера.. с nv нямах никакъв проблем!

Така като гледам лога, Х не ползва драйвера на NVidia (вкл. и glx модула) в момента, а този на X.Org Foundation, което означава, че xorg.conf файла който си постнал по-горе не се използва (въпреки - (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"). Може би Х ползва нещо от рода на XF86Config или XF86Config-4 или пък си променил някой друг файл, а не /etc/X11/xorg.conf - провери.
Освен това можеш да пробваш още две неща:
1. Премести файла /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nvxbox_drv.o някъде напр. в ~/ (или го изтрий) - на мен дълго време Х ми правеше мизерия и като го махнах се оправи.
2. Стартирай kernel-a без vga (т.е. nonfb)

И все пак пробвай конфигурацията по-горе. '<img'>

EDIT:
P.S. След като си инсталирал драйверите на NVidia, случайно да си инсталирал ново ядро или да ползваш друго ядро, а не това за което си ги компилирал?

Благодаря на besto и на всички. Помогнахте ми. Дъното ми е ASRock и Sempron процесор. След указанията на besto Федората зареди с драйверите на НВИДИА '<img'>))))
Но от Х в рънлевел 3 продължавам да не мога да влизам '<img'>
