Дънната платка е: ASRock H61M-GS ($2) Процесор: Intel® Core™ i3-2100 Processor (3M Cache, 3.10 GHz) ($2) Памет: Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G 4GB 1333MHz
На дънната платка има място за две платки с памет, сложил съм една. Добра идея ли е да сложа още една? Гледам, че на дънната платка пише Dual Channel и май трябваше да сложа две еднакви платки на всеки слот...
Сега инсталирам Ubuntu от USB (защото компютъра няма CD/DVD) и изведе "Errors found in 3 files". Но това може да е от DVD-то, от което копирах инсталацията. Ще пробвам да изтегля наново ISO-то.
Редакция от 10 април 2015 година (4 години след отваряне на темата): Проблемът с memtest явно е бил софтуерен. С по-нова версия на memtest не забива. Проблемът със забиването на графичната среда вероятно също е бил софтуерен, защото не съм наблюдавал забиване много отдавна. Тази конфигурация излезе много здрава (добавих по-късно още една платка оперативна памет 4 GB - с общо 8 GB съм) и кутията не загрява (котката лягаше на предишния компютър, но на този не иска - не е достатъчно топло).

Виж мемори timings. Ако трябва малко underclock.
Ако и това не помогне -> Сервиз.

Dual channel хубаво, ама не е задължително да са 2 банки памет. Т.е. ако е една банка памет, ще работи в Single mode, а ако са 2 еднакви банки - ще работят в Dual mode.
Ама че дава грешки, това е кофти. Хубавото е, че си го хванал на момента още докато е нов, не да ти разкатава фамилията после.

Както си написал, опитай пак да запишеш флашката с Ubuntu. Не вярвам да имаш проблеми.

Онова със сгрешените файлове е било заради разваленото DVD, от което копирах данните на флашка.
След като изтеглих 64 битова версия на Ubuntu и направих инсталационна флашка, проверката на файловете протече нормално и се инсталира нормално.
Това със забиването на Memtest86+ вероятно е заради бъг в програмата. Обаче може и да не е. Ще тествам още. Няма да бързам да преминавам на новата машина.

След като стартирах най-новата версия на Memtest86+ (към момента това е 4.20) не се забелязват проблеми. Явно е било бъг в старата версия.
Проблемната версия беше 4.1.

Малко офтопик, но ползваш ли Intel Graphics или си с дискретна карта. Ако е първото, с кои драйвери си и евентуално има ли KDE на системата. Че съм със същия процесор под Fedora 15 Beta, и наблюдавам артефакти в контекстните менюта (вероятно се дължат на проблем в intel/mesa), които липсват в Gnome 3, или поне аз не успях да reproduce-на проблема в Gnome. Би ли тествал ако ти остане време. При мен са: xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.14.0-5 mesa-dri-drivers-7.11-0.6

Видеокартата е вградена в процесора и дъното (предполагам, че видео процесора и централния процесор са заедно за повишаване скоростта на предаване на данните). Не ползвам отделна видеокарта и нищо допълнително не съм инсталирал, освен Ubuntu (и каквото инсталира по подразбиране без да ме пита).
Сега обаче компютъра заби жестоко - мога да мърдам курсора на мишката и нищо друго. Клавиватурата не реагира - не се сменя статуса на светодиода Num Lock когато натисна съответния клавиш. В момента на забиване беше пуснат VirtualBox и отделно Firefox. Заби точно в момента, когато Firefox показваше от онези псевдо-pop-up прозорци (страницата е тежка, с много JS/Ajax, постоянно зарежда данни и показва разни числа).
Курсорът на мишката се движи свободно, няма дефекти в графиката (с изключение на това, че всичко е замръзнало). Ползвам някакви добавки към VirtualBox, които се инсталират на госта за да може курсора на мишката на хоста и на госта да са интегрирани. Вероятно е от това, обаче може и да не е...

Като пъхнах флаш паметта се повиши дисковата активност и се чуваше твърдия диск! Може би проблемът е свързан с бъг в онази магия за интеграция на курсора.

Забелязах, че когато отворя няколко таба на Firefox компютъра забива (докато браузърът е натоварен с отваряне на няколко страници). Курсорът на мишката може да се движи, но нищо друго не се случва (клавиатурата не работи - не се превключва светодиода на Num Lock при натискане на съответния бутон). По същия начин като описания по-горе случай с VirtualBox.

Знам че ще ти прозвучи комично, но пробвай и с друга ОС. Досега не съм имал никога случай на забиващ Memtest!
Ако дефекта е хардуерен ще си проличи. Отделно виж при забила машина дали имаш работеща мрежова подсистема (ssh, web, etc...). Възможно е само X-a да е забил

Проблемът се появява в момент на отваряне на няколко таба във Firefox. Най-странното е, че се появява не при всяко отваряне на много табове.

Проблемът се наблюдава когато съм стартирал Firefox и когато скролирам страници. Интересното е, че когато пуснах Chromium Browser заби когато Chromium Browser беше във фокус. Това, че Firefox беше стартиран в момента може и да не е съвпадение.
Гледам, че има много подобни случаи ($2).

Пак заби. Този път в момент когато превключвах прозорци на Firefox с Alt+Tab.
Малко преди това бях тествал бутоните на клавиатурата sleep и wake и се изненадах, че работят (системата заспива и се събужда, обаче събуждането става не от бутона wake, а от бутона за включване на компютъра, който е отпред на кутията).
Когато забие даже бутона за рестарт не помага - само с бутона за изключване реагира (като се изключва).

може би трябва да опиташ с дискретна видео карта. Видео драйвърите за Sandy Bridge са още проблематични

Забелязах, че когато се задейства предпазителя на екрана (скрийнсейвъра) и когато се изключва монитора автоматично е по-голяма вероятността да забие.
Сега съм настроил предпазителя на екрана на "черен екран", времето на задействане е максималното (два часа - за да не се задейства) и съм изключил от Power Management възможността за изключване на монитора при неактивност.

Моето предложение е да намалиш работната честота на паметта. Аз имам една памет която като работи на 333MHZ работи добре, а на 400MHz чупи всичко, и мемтест се скъсва да показва грешки. Пробвай на по-ниска честота може да изчезне това досадно забиване, ако се получи, по-добре сменяй рамта.

Когато вляза в биос-а (Asrock UEFI setup utility) в настройките на паметта пише: DRAM Frequency DDR3-1066 [Auto] А паметта е Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G 4GB 1333MHz - т.е. 1333 MHz, а не 1066 MHz. Може ли паметта да я разпознава грешно като памет работеща оптимално на 1066 MHz и паметта да работи нестабилно когато тактовата честота е по-ниска от нормалната? В менюто имам: Auto, DDR3-800, DDR3-1066 и DDR3-1333. Ще пробвам първо да настроя паметта на нормалната ѝ тактова честота от 1333 MHz (вместо автоматично определената 1066 MHz). Като пусна memtest показва следното (след като коригирах настройките в BIOS-а): Settings: RAM : 665 MHz (DDR3-1330) / CAS : 9-9-9-24 / Single Channel Memory SPD Informations ---------------------------------- - Slot 0 : 4096 MB PC3-10600 - Kingston 9905471-006.A01LF Защо 665 MHz, а не 1333 MHz?

DDR3-1333 не значи 1333MHz работна честота :). Пусни на DDR3-800 и виж там как е дали показва грешки. после пробвай и на DDR3-1333 и виж къде ще ти отчете грешки мемтест-а.

След като стартирах най-новата версия на Memtest86+ (към момента това е 4.20) не се забелязват проблеми. Явно е било бъг в старата версия.
Проблемната версия беше 4.1.
Аз никога не се доверявам на външен Мемтест, винаги ползвам този на биоса
